How marks percentage works
Percentage = (marks obtained ÷ total marks) × 100, shown to two decimals. If your marksheet lists subjects out of the same maximum (say 6 papers of 100 each), use the per-subject mode: enter the number of subjects and the maximum per subject, and the total is computed for you. The division label follows the convention used by most Indian boards and universities: 60% and above is First Division, 50–59.99% Second Division, 40–49.99% Third Division (pass), and below 40% Fail. Some universities add Distinction at 75%+ or set pass marks at 33% or 35% — the label here is the common convention, so check your board's rules for the official one.

Is 60% really First Division everywhere?
It's the long-standing convention across most Indian boards and universities: ≥60% First Division, 50–59.99% Second, 40–49.99% Third (pass), below 40% Fail. But it isn't universal — many universities award Distinction at 75% or higher, and some boards set the pass mark at 33% (CBSE) or 35%. Treat the label as the common convention and check your own board or university's rules for certificates.
Are my marks sent to a server?
No. The percentage is calculated entirely in your browser. Your marks are never uploaded, logged or stored — only the obtained and total marks appear in the page URL so you can share or bookmark the result.
Can I use this for best-of-five or grace marks?
Enter the marks the way your board counts them. For a best-of-five result (common with Maharashtra SSC and ICSE), add up only your best five subjects and use 500 as the total. Grace marks, if awarded, are already included in the marks printed on your marksheet, so enter those final figures.
